Admission Arrangements

Boxford School’s admissions are determined by the local education authority www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissions.  Children normally attend school full-time in the September following their fourth birthday. All primary schools must offer children a full-time place at the start of the Autumn term in September. However, legally a child does not have to start full-time education until the term after their fifth birthday. Parents may request a phased entry timetable, in consultation with the school. Alternative in year, or out of year, start dates will only be considered after consultation with the admissions authority and the school.

Information on how the arrangements work can be found on the Suffolk County Council School Admissions website.  These include the selection and over subscription criteria, a statement of our current published admission number (PAN), and the process for applications and appeals.

School Travel Information

Suffolk County Council (SCC) introduced a new School Travel Policy in September 2019. It is important that parents/carers understand how this might affect their child’s eligibility for SCC funded school travel before they apply for a school place. All children living in Suffolk who will be starting at a new school will be eligible for SCC funded school travel when they meet the statutory walking distance criteria from their home to the nearest suitable school that would have had a place available for them. This would be whether or not an application was made for a place at that school. Full details about SCC funded school travel, including additional arrangements for low income families and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), can be found at www.suffolkonboard.com/schooltravel.
